One of my very favorite winesMY BIRTHDAY
On Friday, I drove to Austin for the weekend because I was a hostess for the baby shower for Tracy, one of my best friends from college. I didn't take many pictures because my friend Kate was taking enough on her own and she is always really good about sharing....so I will post the pics when I get them from her. I did take two pictures on South Congress when Reagan, Kate and I went to this Airstream trailer called Hey Cupcake. Apparently, there are several placed randomly around the city and they make delicious cupcakes---I had the red velvet and it was awesome. At the South Congress location, there are several other trailers that sell different things and they have set up a bunch of picnic tables for everyone to be able to sit and enjoy whatever they buy. There are crepes, snowcones, tacos, cupcakes, etc...it's pretty cool.
The baby shower was at a place called Chee Zee and we gave each guest a choice of migas, creme brulee french toast (which is what this place is known for) or American breakfast. It was a small shower with mostly Tracy's extended family there so it was perfect to have it at a restaurant....no clean up! The shower was at 11AM so Kate, Reagan and I had the rest of the day just to hang out while Tracy spent time with family. We all met up for dinner at Matt's El Rancho and then I went to Tracy's mom's house to stay the night. I got up early on Sunday morning to make the drive back to Dallas.
On Sunday, Nathan and I celebrated my birthday. When I walked in the door, he had cleaned it---dusted, vacuumed and cleaned the toilets. For dinner, he made chicken pot pie from scratch and I helped make banana pudding. The food was sooooooo good....I mean, he never ceases to amaze me with how great of a cook he is. I am so lucky to be married to a man who likes to cook and who loves to do little things for me like knowing I clean the house on Sunday...so he did it for me yesterday. :) For my gift, he got me a bottle of one of my favorite wines that you can only find at Central Market or online because they don't sell it much in Texas. I had been to the winery in Napa a few years ago and I have never found another pinot noir that tastes as good as this one does. I don't drink it very often because it's more than my typical $10-15 price range. :) Then he also got me a bottle of perfume/body spray from Origins that smells so clean and I love it. He did a great job and I could tell he really took time to think about the gift, which for me is the best part.
