NEW HOUSE
So Nathan and I had been looking at houses online on realtor.com and hadn't really planned to go into full house hunting mode until next spring. But then we came across this awesome house at a great deal so we called a realtor who is a friend of Nathan's sister and asked her to show us the house. We fell in love with it but we couldn't put an offer in because the same day we looked at it, someone else put an offer on it. We were disappointed but took it as a sign that we should just wait until the spring like we had originally planned. About 10 days later, our realtor called us to say that she had insider information that the offer was going to fall through on the buyer's side of things and she recommended us to go look at the house again. We ended up putting a back-up offer in and when the other offer fell through, we got the house! We were a little in shock at the deal we go and now we know it was a result of a couple who was transferred to Oklahoma for work and they were getting divorced too. Lucky for us but sad for them.
At that point, the craziness began....loan officers, copies of everything you can even imagine, inspectors, appraisers, etc. UGH. We hated the whole process but it was well worth it on August 19th when we closed on what is going to be our long term home where we hope to grow a cute Cooksey family someday. :) We wanted to do it before we had kids because I think moving sucks in general so to have kids while going through it would just suck even more.
We had movers pack everything for us about 3 days after closing and we moved the day after the packing was done. We have been in the house a whole week today and have all boxes unpacked. My mom came into town for about 4 days to help us last week and I really cannot say enough things about what an amazing help she was! She was so great and I feel very thankful that I have a mother who would just drop what she was doing to come help me....especially since I was still going through the stomach issues. We have also had Nathan's parents here for a few days and they have been a huge help as well. Nathan's dad is basically a genius when it comes to fixing things and he put our new TV above our fireplace in record time...connecting the surround sound and all! Considering you have to pay hundreds of dollars to places to install these things, we are so grateful we have a dad/father-in-law who knows all about them!
We are very excited and can't wait to start to fully enjoy everything the house has to offer. We are hoping to have a Labor Day weekend of relaxation by the pool!
As an update to my stomach issues, I saw a GI doctor last week and I have to get a colonoscopy and endoscopy on September 12th to make sure nothing is wrong....if those are clear, then I will most likely be diagnosed with IBS. Stay tuned....
