CANCER CRUSADE 2011

On Saturday, September 24, 2011, we had our 4th annual Mt. Pleasant Cancer Crusade at Dellwood Park.   We had great weather (much better than last year when it poured down rain) and about 80 runners showed up to participate in the event.   We haven't calculated the final total yet but my guess is that it is about $8,000 based on what I have added up thus far.   Considering the state of the economy, I am pretty happy with that number!

I have to say that I consider myself very lucky to have such great family and friends who support the cause and me.    My friend Lockie drove in from Austin with her two kids without her husband (who had to stay in Austin to work) to help me out at the registration tables.   My friend Julie left Arlington at 5:30AM with her 8 month old son to come sell some Scentsy products to donate the proceeds to the Cancer Crusade.   My aunt, cousins, and my cousin's 3 year old drove in from Houston to volunteer as registration table workers and timekeepers.   My parents helped secure the giveaways in the runner bags in the weeks leading up to the event and got up at 5:45AM to help me set everything up on the day of the race.    And of course my husband Nathan helped me to stay sane throughout the preparations and throughout the day.

Nancy and I want to thank everyone who played a role in the event and helped make it a success!
