ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR CANCER CRUSADE

I can't remember if I posted the final amount we raised for the MP Cancer Crusade after expenses were taken out so I thought I would use this post to tell you!   Nancy and I went to MP last Friday to present the Cancer Center with a check for $7500!   It was less than we raised last year but considering the economy, we were pretty happy with this amount.    Plus, we were told that our contribution was going to help pay off the upgraded radiation machine that they just put in....this is a huge deal for them since patients will have more pinpointed radiation.   Previously, patients had to drive an hour to Paris or Tyler to get that type of machine.   :)  Our hope is to raise more next year and we hope we can count on support from all of our friends and family as usual.   Thank you all so much for everything....your money, your time, your support from afar, and your dedication to the cause.

Speaking of next year, Nancy and I will no longer be the ones in charge of the MP Cancer Crusade.   We will stay on as co-chairs but we will be more of a supportive role instead of the lead role.    It was always our intention to have the hospital take over the event once we got it established and running and after our check presentation last Friday, we had a meeting with the Foundation to discuss the transition.   It's too hard to be the leader of the event when neither of us lives in Mt. Pleasant....and our former co-chair who lives in MP no longer participates in the event due to time constraints so we had to rely on my mom to do a bulk of the MP work this year.   So, the Foundation will be forming a committee with other members from the hospital board and the community to discuss how to make the event bigger and better.   We all recognize that a lot of the sponsorships we have received in the past are due to my personal relationships...either directly or through my family...so I will most likely still be the one seeking a lot of the sponsors.   I will also be part of the committee in order to provide input and help with everything.   It will be a great thing to have more involvement from people in MP directly and to allow the event to grow bigger and better.   I am excited to stay on as a part of it and happy to pass the torch to someone most likely more suited for the leader role.

Stay tuned for details....we have discussed moving the event to October to coincide with the "Paint the Town Pink" event.
